Celia describes the inspiration behind this painting:

As I stroll along the river Thames from Duke Meadows to the Elder Press, the sunshine warms my face and fills me with anticipation. My tummy rumbles with excitement, knowing that the breakfast menu awaits me. The river walls, banks, and balconies are adorned with beautiful greenery, and daisies fill the cracks. Climber covers all the walls, making it hard to see where the gardens end and the home begins. The burst of vibrant colours, make me appreciate more than ever that I’m lucky to live here, I feel grateful.

Celia is a a self-taught Birmingham artist, now living and working in West London, creating vibrant large-scale botanical works on paper using emulsions. Her art draws inspiration from retro floral textiles, vintage advertising and mid-century aesthetic, along side the world around her. 'When I'm not painting, I run art classes and workshops for children, in and around West London, the children inspire me everyday'.

Celia's paintings explore a different themes, all deeply tied to nostalgia from her life and identity. The vibrant and colourful works evoke personal memories and experiences.

'A walk to the Elder Press' will be on show in the cafe this autumn. To purchase this piece, or more of Celia's work, visit: www.celiamartinepickering.com
